Wolverhampton Wanderers have extended their contract with Hwang Hee-chan until 2028, according to a pundit.
Italian sports reporter Fabrizio Romano said Thursday on X that the new deal, with an option for further seasons, will put Hwang "at the same level of the highest paid players at the club."
Hwang was signed by the Wanderers on a season-long loan deal from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021 and had his contract extended until 2026, but after a series of stellar performances by the winger, the club wants to extend it again.
According to local media, Hwang is being paid 30,000 pounds a week compared to the 190,000 pounds Son Heung-min gets from Tottenham Hotspur.
Hwang has also been paid much less than teammate Pablo Sarabia, who earns 90,000 pounds a week, but under the new deal his earnings are expected to triple.
