The Financial Times has named Korean girl band Aespa among its "25 most influential women of 2023."
The daily's list released last week names Aespa alongside pop star Beyoncé and film actress and director Margot Robbie.
It was created in consultation with hundreds of journalists, readers and industry leaders. It said the gimmicky quartet, who also have four virtual cartoon members, is one of "a new wave of girl groups [that] has been climbing the ranks, while the top tiers of the Korean charts have been dominated by boy bands."
"In the two years since they released their first album, [Aespa] have set and then broken a series of records for K-pop girl groups, becoming the first to pass 1 million first-week sales with three consecutive albums, as well as playing Coachella and launching a world tour," it added.
