Automaker Kia plans to hire 300 assembly-line workers. Production jobs at Kia are dream jobs for young Koreans due to high wages and ample benefits.
Kia announced the hiring plan on its website on Monday. Anyone with a minimum high school diploma can apply until next Wednesday, and the successful applicants will start work in February at the automaker's plants in Hwaseong, Gwangju, and Gwangmyeong in Gyeonggi Province.
The average annual salary at Kia surpassed W100 million in 2021, with the best benefits among domestic automakers (US$1=W1,292). More than 100,000 people are expected to apply this time.
When Kia hired around 100 factory workers last year, 49,432 people applied, resulting in a competition rate of 500:1.
