More snow than usual is expected in Korea this winter as El Niño peaks in November and December and bring large amounts of water vapor to the country.
The Korea Meteorological Administration on Sunday advised residents of the southern provinces to prepare for heavy wet snow piling up on their rooftops and promised to start forecasting snow weight as well.

The forecast will be provided first for regions that have been worst affected like North Jeolla Province and extended nationwide later.
Korea suffered an average of W92.3 billion in damage from snow every year from 2004 to 2020, accounting for 16.2 percent of damage caused by natural disasters (US$1=W1,297).
