A taekwondo statue was unveiled at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland on Wednesday.
Italian sculptor Milos Ippoliti took a year to construct the statue, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Korean martial arts' governing body, World Taekwondo.

Among 35 disciplines officially adopted by the International Olympic Committee, taekwondo is the 10th to be honored with a sculpture at the Olympic Museum, with the others including track and field, gymnastics, football and basketball.
Erecting a statue means that a sport is considered to have great significance in modern Olympic history as a key athletic discipline.
