The U.K.'s King Charles III on Tuesday announced that he will welcome President Yoon Suk-yeol on a state visit to the island country later this month.
The announcement came as part of the King's Speech, where the constitutional monarch is obliged to read out the government's legislative plans for the year in front of both houses of Parliament, amid much pageantry and arcane ritual.
Yoon's visit marks the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Yoon will be the new king's first state guest since his accession in May.
