Rains Interrupt Unseasonable Summer Heat

Rain and thunderstorms will interrupt the unseasonable summer heat in most parts of the country on Friday, the Korea Meteorological Administration forecast.

The rain began to fall in northern Gyeonggi Province and western Gangwon Province early Friday morning and will continue in Seoul, Incheon and southern Gyeonggi Province until the evening.

Up to 20 mm of downpours are expected as thunderstorms hit central parts and about 5 mm for the Jeolla provinces and Jeju Island.

But the warm weather continued despite the rain as the lowest morning temperatures ranged between 8 and 18 degrees Celsius and the daytime highs will hover between 19 and 25 degrees. Daytime temperatures in Seoul will stay above 20 degrees until Saturday.
