Kim Hyo-jin Says Strong Character Drew Her to Role in Upcoming TV Series

Actress Kim Hyo-jin returns to the small screen this month in cable channel tvN's new series "Castaway Diva."

The series revolves around a girl who dreams of being a pop star after being rescued from a deserted island after 15 years.

Actress Park Eun-bin plays the lead role and Kim co-stars as a former superstar whom Park's character emulates, and who tries to revive her glory days.

Kim said, "I was attracted to my character in the upcoming series because she struggles to live without giving up, even after going through tough times when her career fades. I wanted to tackle this role because it was unlike any other that I've played before."

She expressed her passion for the role, saying "Since my character is a great singer with star quality, I learned guitar for the first time to better perform the character. It's not easy to play the guitar without looking while singing, so I'm practicing hard."

The new series is set to begin on Oct. 28.
