Autumn rain will continue until early Friday morning, which will bring the mercury down below zero, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
An unstable atmospheric trough has brought thunderstorms to most regions starting with northern Gyeonggi Province in the early morning Thursday. The rain will move gradually from central to southern parts.
It will let up temporarily in the evening on Thursday in the capital region, only to return at night as another trough passes through Korea and continue until Friday morning.
Up to 30 mm of rain is expected for the capital region, Gangwon and Jeolla provinces, up to 40 mm in the Chungcheong and Gyeongsang provinces, and up to 20 ㎜ on Jeju Island.

On Thursday morning temperatures still ranged between 8 and 17 degrees Celsius in the morning but will climb to 16 to 25 degrees in the daytime.
From Friday morning the weather will be clear as a high pressure front expands from northern China, and the entire country will see clear skies next week.
But temperatures will plummet as chilly winds blowing from the north get stronger. The mercury will dip below zero in most parts over the weekend, with frost and ice in central parts.
