Seoul will commemorate last year's deadly Halloween stampede in Itaewon with a series of events marking the first anniversary of the tragedy.
According to groups representing the victims' families, events include prayer meetings, a memorial march and a rally in Gwanghwamun.
At 2 p.m. on Oct. 29, they will hold prayer meetings in front of exit No. 1 at Itaewon subway station near the alley where the incident occurred. At 3 p.m., they will begin marching from the station to Gwanghwamun where a memorial gathering takes place at 5 p.m.

The victims' families have declared a weeklong mourning period from Oct. 16 to 29, which will see various memorial events including the premiere of a documentary highlighting how the bereaved families have been remembering the victims over the past year.
A memorial space the district has been building near the accident site will be unveiled on Oct. 26. "The space should restore the victims' dignity so that their families and friends can find solace," said Kwon Eun-bi, who designed the space. "But we have to find an operator capable of long-term management to maintain it."
