Yoon to Visit U.K., Netherlands Later This Year

President Yoon Suk-yeol will pay a state visit to the U.K. in November and to the Netherlands in December, the presidential office said on Tuesday.

Yoon's visit to the U.K. comes at the invitation of King Charles III as the two countries mark the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.

Charles ascended the throne last year after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II. Yoon met the king when he attended the queen's funeral.

Yoon will also visit the Netherlands at the invitation of King Willem-Alexander and be the first Korean president to pay a state visit to the European country since the two sides established diplomatic relations in 1961.
