Single-use plastic will be banned in all parks along the Han River in Seoul by 2025.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government on Thursday announced measures to reduce the mountains of plastic waste that have been piling up since lockdown was lifted.
It will start with parks near Jamsu Bridge this year, extending to Ttukseom and Banpo areas next year. By 2025, all parks along the river will become plastic-free.

A city official said the city "will set up a workable system" to enforce the measure.
Seoul will also introduce a W300 deposit for disposable cups in coffee shops from 2025. Customers can get it back if they return their cups or get a W300 discount if they bring their own cups (US$1=W1,335).
