The most ardent fried-chicken aficionados in Korea account for 41.5 percent of total consumption and order the cholesterol bombs 34 times a year.
KB Kookmin Card analyzed spending of 7.1 million customers over the last year and found that they ordered fried chicken nine times a year on average and spent W230,000 annually (US$1=W1,335). But those in the top 10 percent spent W940,000.
Presumably actual spending is much higher if they use more than one card.
People in their 20s accounted for 26.5 percent of consumers, followed by those in their 40s (25.7 percent).
The most popular time of the day for ordering fried chicken was 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., when the time comes to enjoy a beer in front of the TV.
