Korea to Expand Compensation for COVID-Vaccine Side Effects

The ruling People Power Party and government on Wednesday agreed to expand the size and scope of compensation for victims of COVID-vaccine side effects.

Up to W30 million will be paid to families whose loved ones died within 90 days of vaccination even if the cause of death has not been confirmed by autopsy (US$1=W1,331).

At present up to W10 million is being offered to families of those who died within 42 days.

Up to W20 million will be provided to families of those who died before the compensation system was introduced.

More research on vaccine safety will be conducted while more support for medical equipment will also be allocated.
