Ryu Hyun-jin of the Toronto Blue Jays fell short of a fourth consecutive win despite a solid outing in an away game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field last Friday.
Ryu went five innings, giving up four hits and two walks -- including a home run -- and striking out three. He left the mound with his team leading 4-2, putting him in a position to earn the victory. But the bullpen allowed a reversal by giving up a three-run homer and he failed to add a win.
But the Blue Jays eventually came from behind and won the game 13-9.
The Rockies' home field has a reputation as Major League Baseball's most hitter-friendly park. Located 1,610 m above sea level where the air density is lower, it tends to give up more homers than any other park, and favors pitchers whose style produces more ground balls than fly balls.
Ryu's season ERA rose from 2.25 to 2.48. He is expected to take the mound in an away game against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday.
