Koreans to Enjoy Weeklong Chuseok Break

Oct. 2 has been designated as a temporary public holiday this year, ensuring that Koreans enjoy a full week's break over Chuseok.

The government is also distributing 600,000 accommodation discount coupons, while highway tolls will be waived during the holiday period.

President Yoon Seok-yeol made the announcement in a meeting at the presidential office on Thursday. That means the holiday starts from Sept. 28 and lasts until National Foundation Day on Oct. 3.

Yoon stressed the need to encourage domestic tourism to stimulate consumption. "We will increase flight routes and simplify entry procedures to ensure that more foreign tourists boost consumption," he added.
