Korea's LG Energy Solution has maintained its leading position in the global EV battery market excluding China.
According to SNE Research, LG Energy Solution "kept the top position with a 52.7 percent (30.5GWh) year-on-year growth" in battery sales in the first five months of the year.
It had a market share of 27.4 percent followed by China's CATL with 27.3 percent. Their gap narrowed to 0.1 percentage point from last year's 6.9 percentage points.
Korea's SK On and Samsung SDI ranked fourth and fifth.
Over the period, total global sales of EV batteries, again excluding China, rose by 52.5 percent on-year.
