Golfer Ko Jin-young Ties Lorena Ochoa's Record for Most Weeks at No. 1

Ko Jin-young now stands alongside former golfer Lorena Ochoa in terms of the most weeks spent at No. 1 in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.

"This week marks [Ko's] 158th week at the top of the rankings, tying the record set by Lorena Ochoa from 2007 to 2010," the LPGA said on Monday.

Ko, who has 15 LPGA wins including two major victories, slipped from the rankings after struggling with an injury-induced slump last year, but reclaimed the top spot by winning the HSBC Women's World Championship in March and the Cognizant Founders Cup in May this year.

If Ko remains at the top after this week's KPMG Women's PGA Championship to be held in Springfield, New Jersey, she will set a new record with 159 weeks spent at No. 1.

Lydia Ko of New Zealand stayed at the top for 125 weeks, the second-longest run after Ko Jin-young and Ochoa, followed by Taiwan's Yani Tseng (109 weeks) and Korea's Park In-bee (106 weeks).
