"The Roundup: No Way Out" starring Ma Dong-seok attracted more than 8 million viewers as of Tuesday, just 13 days after its release on May 31.
According to the Korea Film Council, some 8.05 million moviegoers have watched the crime flick since its release.
The third installment of the hit action franchise that began with the 2017 smash hit film "The Outlaws" became the first film to pass the 8-million mark so far this year.
Ma Dong-seok (center) and other cast members of "The Roundup: No Way Out" celebrate the movie's hitting the 8-million-viewer mark in Seoul on Tuesday.
The film reached the milestone four days faster than the previous installment, "The Roundup," and the action comedy "Veteran" (2015), and three days faster than "Assassination" (2015) and the Oscar-winning film "Parasite" (2017).
The film, also starring Lee Jun-hyuk and Japanese actor Munetaka Aoki, deals with the story of a detective who fights a war on drugs.
Now it seems it is a matter of time before it hits the 10-million-viewer mark. Its predecessor drew about 12.7 million viewers last year.
