Koreans to Enjoy Substitute Holiday for Buddha's Birthday

Banks and many other businesses close on Monday as the country enjoys its first-ever substitute holiday for Buddha's Birthday, which falls on Saturday.

It is the third long weekend Koreans have enjoyed in quick succession.

The government hopes that it will stimulate private consumption as people spend money on leisure activities and head outdoors, but that could be thwarted by thunderstorms forecast over the weekend.
