BMW unveiled a completely revamped version of its 5 Series midsize sedan on Wednesday.
The 5 Series is one of the best-selling imported cars in Korea, with sales topping 20,000 units here last year.
The new sedan, the eighth-generation 5 Series, will be launched in the global market in October. It will come in gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid and all-electric versions.
This will be the first time that the German carmaker has released an all-electric 5 Series, named i5, which can travel up to 582 km on a single charge. With 10 minutes of fast charging, it can travel 156 km.
The gasoline and diesel models employ mild hybrid technology, meaning the engine is supported by an electric motor. The specifications for the plug-in hybrid model will be disclosed later.
The new car is 97 mm longer and 32 mm wider than its predecessor.
