Teenage girl band NewJeans have been named on TIME magazine's list of Next Generation Leaders.
The list was published by the U.S. magazine on Tuesday. "A year ago, no one knew who [NewJeans were]," it said. But the nascent K-pop girl group have "already reached global milestones even faster than [their] more senior counterparts in the industry."

Manufactured by talent stable Hybe, which launched K-pop juggernaut Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, two of the quintet's singles -- "OMG" and "Ditto" -- "stayed on the Billboard [Hot] 100 [singles chart] for five weeks this year, and in March the band became the fastest Korean act ever to hit 1 billion streams on Spotify in just 219 days."
NewJeans were the only Asians on this year's list, which also included British actress Florence Pugh and Brazilian journalist Rene Silva.
