IU Makes Annual Birthday Donation

Singer and actress IU donated W250 million to charities to mark her 31st birthday on Tuesday, her agency said (US$1=W1,339). 

She donated W100 million for underprivileged children and W50 million each for single-parent families and orphans, single mothers, and elderly people who live alone, under the name of IUaena, a portmanteau of her name and the name of her fan club, Uaena.

Every year IU makes a donation on her birthday.

She has also donated money to charitable causes for people in need since her debut in 2008.

Just recently, to mark Children's Day on May 5, she donated W100 million to Childfund Korea and sent snacks to teachers and students at a special school for children with disabilities.
