'Suzume' Becomes 3rd Highest-Grossing Anime in Korea

Makoto Shinkai's "Suzume" has become the 3rd highest-grossing anime of all time in Korea.

According to the Korea Film Council on Monday, "Suzume" has drawn 5.12 million viewers since its release on March 8 to beat "Kung Fu Panda 2" (5.06 million). It now ranks third after "Frozen 2" (13.76 million) and "Frozen" (10.31 million) as the highest-grossing animation here.

It already became the most-viewed Japanese film in Korea.

"Suzume" revolves around a high school girl who encounters a mysterious young man and teams up with him to try to prevent disasters.

A Korean-dubbed version released on May 17 is likely to extend its success.
