The lawn in front of the presidential office in Yongsan will open to the public next month to mark the first anniversary of President Yoon Suk-yeol's inauguration on May 10.
It was part of the U.S. Forces Korea's old garrison that is currently in the process of being turned into a huge park.

When Yoon moved the presidential office from Cheong Wa Dae to the former Defense Ministry building last year, he pledged to turn the deserted grounds into a space to "share and communicate with the public."
Once completed, the park will measure 3 million sq.m, which is roughly equivalent to New York's Central Park.
