Jung Jun-ho Takes Charge of Jeonju Film Fest

Actor Jung Jun-ho has taken on the responsibility of becoming a co-director of the Jeonju International Film Festival this year.

Jung said there have been substantial changes in his mindset since he took charge of the festival.

"I recently went on a trip to the Berlin International Film Festival and learned how much work and responsibility it takes to organize a film festival," he told reporters on Thursday.

"I realized that I only brought my appetite and enjoyed the feast when I attended as an actor in the past."

There was some opposition from the film industry to his appointment. "I know there are concerns because I've mostly appeared in commercial films and the Jeonju Film Festival represents independent and art films," he admitted.

But he has been able to encourage businesspeople and film fans to sponsor new directors and improve the production environment of non-commercial films.

This year's festival starts its 10-day run on April 27.
