Another Japanese animated film is luring Korean moviegoers to theaters.
According to the Korean Film Council, "Suzume" has attracted more than 2 million viewers in about two weeks since its release here on March 8.
The success of the fantasy adventure film comes after "The First Slam Dunk," an adaptation of Takehiko Inoue's popular basketball comic from the 1990s, achieved the milestone early this year.
"Suzume," directed by Makoto Shinkai, tells the story of a high school girl who encounters a mysterious young man and teams up with him to try to prevent disasters.
Shinkai is well known for his hit romantic fantasy "Your Name," which drew a record 3.8 million viewers when it was released here in 2017.
