N.Korea Lobs Short-Range Missiles into West Sea

North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles into the West Sea on Thursday, the Joint Chiefs of Staff here said.

The provocation comes ahead of yet another large-scale military exercise by South Korea and the U.S. that starts next week.

The JCS said the missiles were fired simultaneously at around 6:20 p.m. from the port of Nampo and only traveled for a short time.

The JCS is trying to find out what kinds of missiles they were precisely and why they were launched.
