Actress Chun Woo-hee's latest movie "Unlocked" has gotten off to a good start, ranking third on Netflix's weekly viewership chart for non-English films after its release last week.
Chun plays a woman whose life is turned upside down after a psychopath finds her lost smartphone, which contains all her personal information, and tracks her every move.
Chun portrays the role in a very persuasive and compelling way, which would make viewers become absorbed into the story.
The film contains several scenes which reflect some of the actual details of Chun's everyday life, such as her hobby and favorite food, to maximize the verisimilitude of the story.
"Among all the characters that I have played, this one seems to be the most similar to the real me," she said. "I thought it would be best to act like I do in real life and use my actual way of speaking," she said in an interview with the Chosun Ilbo early this week.
It is just the most recent of many tough and adventuresome roles Chun has played.
"I'm a very ordinary person, but acting makes my life dynamic. I feel that I've grown and learned a lot due to the hardships experienced through acting. Each role brings different challenges, so I want to live many different lives that are more diverse and far more exciting than my own," she said.
