Korean children will be able to go to school without masks on for the first time in almost three years as over 1,700 schools across the country start their new semester next week.
For many of the younger children that will be the first time they have seen their classmates' faces for any length of time.
The indoor mask mandate is set to be lifted next week, though wearing masks is still recommended.
On Wednesday morning, the daily tally of new coronavirus cases stood at 29,538.
