Girl group Blackpink have been nominated for International Group of the Year at this year's BRIT Awards, becoming the first female K-pop act to receive a nomination at the U.K.'s top music awards.
The girls were included in the list of the nominees for this year's event released last Thursday. They will be competing with four other global artists -- Drake & 21 Savage, Gabriels, First Aid Kit and Fontaines DC.

Launched in 1977, the annual awards are run by the British Phonographic Industry. Nominees are selected by the awards' voting academy with over 1,000 members, including radio and TV DJs and executives in the broadcasting and music industries.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in London on Feb. 11.
Boy band Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, were the first Korean act to be nominated at the awards. They were in the running for International Group of the Year for two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022, but missed out on winning trophies.
