Mountainous Gangwon Province is expected to see heavy snow this weekend.
The Korea Meteorological Administration on Thursday forecast nationwide rainfall until Friday, tuning to snow in the province on Saturday and Sunday.
The rain started on Jeju Island on Thursday afternoon and spread to the rest of the country overnight. Up to 80 mm of rain is expected across the country and more than 250 mm on Jeju. A snow front is expected to form on Saturday, bringing lots of snow to the Gangwon region and east coast until Monday.

A heavy snow warning is expected if more than 20 cm of snow fall in 24 hours, or 30 cm for mountainous areas. The KMA cautioned against slippery roads and cars getting trapped in the snow, advising people refrain from travelling to the region over the weekend.
The snow is forecast to be wet and accumulate rapidly. Around 50 cm of wet snow in an area of 100 sq.m weighs about five tons, enough to cause a roof to collapse. If the snow clouds extend further inland, Seoul and the central regions could also see snow over the weekend.
