Samsung SDI Mulls Another Battery Plant in Hungary

Samsung SDI is mulling a plan to build a battery plant in Hungary exclusively for BMW's electric vehicles, sources said on Tuesday.

Samsung SDI already has two plants there supplying batteries to European carmakers, but is now thinking about building another plant in response to a proposal by the German carmaker. 

Industry insiders expect the new plant to proceed despite an estimated cost of at least W1 trillion, as the Korean battery maker is expanding its investment in the burgeoning EV market (US$1=W1,247).
