The ex-wife of SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won has appealed a court ruling that gives her W66.5 billion of the tycoon's money plus 100 million in alimony, her attorney said Monday (US$1=W1,303).
Chey filed for divorce in 2017 after failing to agree on the terms of separation with Roh Soh-yeong, the daughter of former President Roh Tae-woo.
She demanded 50 percent of his shares in SK Holdings, the conglomerate's parent company, plus W300 million in alimony, but the court accepted Chey's argument that she had done nothing to contribute to his acquisition of the shares, which he inherited from his father.
But Roh's lawyer insists that the value of the shares Chey inherited increased to over W3 trillion during their marriage, and she contributed to the increase "through her position as his spouse."
