Hundreds of Fans Gather as Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur Leaves for U.K.

Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur left for London on Tuesday after taking a brief rest here. 

The Spurs forward, who led the Korean team to the round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar early this month, will now prepare for the remainder of the Premier League season while rehabilitating from surgery for fractures around his left eye.

Some 200 fans holding placards, gifts and letters waited for hours from early in the morning to see him off at Incheon International Airport and erupted into deafening cheers when he appeared. Son signed autographs for about 40 minutes until his pen ran out of ink.

Meanwhile, Lee Kang-in of RCD Mallorca also left Korea on the same day.

"Playing at the World Cup was a great experience. I will continue to do my best to perform well," he said.
