Korea is out of the World Cup after a devastating 4-1 loss to Brazil in the knockout stage of the quadrennial event in Qatar on Monday.
Korea was hammered by the world No. 1, allowing four goals in the first half of the match by Vinícius Júnior of Real Madrid in the seventh minute, Neymar of Paris Saint-German in the 13th, Richarlison of Tottenham Hotspur in the 29th and Lucas Paquetá of West Ham United in the 36th.
Neymar converted a penalty into his 76th goal for Brazil, just one behind Brazilian football legend Pele's all-time record.

But Korea did not give up and fought hard against the five-time World Cup champion until the end.
Paik Seung-ho of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, who made his World Cup debut as a substitute in the 65th minute, scored an amazing long-range consolation in the 76th minute, but it was too late to turn the match around.

Korea made its 10th consecutive appearance at the World Cup, and this was the third time it advanced to the round of 16 after 2002 and 2010.
Though Korea failed to earn a ticket for the quarterfinals, it put up a spirited performance.

In a press conference after the match, national team manager Paulo Bento announced that he will resign from his post after four years in charge of the Korean squad. He said he made the decision in September and has already told the Korean footballers and the Korea Football Association.
