Health authorities have slashed the interval between COVID-19 booster shots from four months to three in a desperate bid to improve uptake for vaccines as infections rise.
People who wish to receive the injections can book on the website of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency or visit a clinic that offers same-day injections.
The vaccines under the new guideline are Omicron variant-adapted ones made by Moderna and Pfizer and the new modified Pfizer vaccine for the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants.
Meanwhile, the daily tally of new COVID-19 infections dropped to 59,089 on Thursday morning from 70,324 the previous day, while deaths and serious cases remained rather high at 59 and 437.
