Fried chicken franchises in Korea are locked in fierce competition during the FIFA World Cup because matches take place at night Korean time, the perfect time for beer and fried chicken.
Franchises tempt fans with value combos and other deals as they veg out in front of the TV from 10 p.m. to midnight and beyond after a long day at work.

The organizers in Qatar have moved the competition from June to November, when it is cooler in the Gulf country, and the chilly weather here is likely to keep fans indoors, raising demand for snack deliveries.
Convenience stores are also expecting surging sales during the World Cup. GS25 signed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur, national team captain Son Heung-min's club, and introduced a fried chicken breast product shaped like a soccer cleat. 7-Eleven is offering its fried chicken products at a 40-percent discount.
