Big Businesses Make Donations to Help Victims of Halloween Stampede

    Samsung has decided to donate W5 billion to help victims of last week's deadly Halloween stampede in Seoul's Itaewon entertainment district  (US$1=W1,424).
    The electronics giant will donate W5 billion pitched in by its affiliates to the Hope Bridge Association of the National Disaster Relief by the end of this month, the conglomerate said on Thursday.
    Hyundai Heavy Industries is also donating to the charity. "We send our deepest condolences to the victims and their families who are in great sadness and grief," it said.
    Their donations will be used to provide help to the victims of the tragedy as well as making efforts to improve the social safety net.
