Tourists swarmed to Mt. Seorak in Gangwon Province to enjoy the autumn foliage over the weekend, as now is the peak time to experience the colorful leaves at one of the country's best known foliage attractions.
It is less than a month since the first color changes were spotted. Autumnal tints usually peak 20 days after they first appear, or when more than 80 percent of a mountainside is covered in autumn foliage. Last year's colors peaked around Oct. 26 on Mt. Seorak.

The clock is ticking for those who wish to enjoy the colorful leaves, which will only be at their most vibrant for around a week to 10 days. On Mt. Seorak, the colors will begin fading from this weekend.
Tourists can still head off to warmer southern parts of the country. Places like Mt. Jiri and Mt. Naejang, as well as Mt. Halla on Jeju Island, will hit peak fall foliage from late October to early November.
