Figure skater Cha Jun-hwan made a strong start to the international competitive season, winning a silver medal at the Nepala Memorial in Bratislava, Slovakia last Saturday.
Cha finished second in both the free skate and the previous day's short program with 145.51 points and 80.81 points, totaling 226.32 points. Gabriele Frangipani from Italy won gold with 224.57 points. A total of 13 skaters competed in the men's events.
The Nepala Memorial is part of the ISU Challenger Series, a senior-level competition below the ISU Grand Prix.

The result marks a welcome return for Cha, who had to withdraw from the World Figure Skating Championships in March because of a problem with his skates.
Two other Koreans also scored well, with Kim Hyun-gyeom taking fourth place with 202.19 points and Kim Han-gil finishing fifth with 200.23 points.
