Ex-Education Minister to Reprise Role in Yoon Administration

President Yoon Suk-yeol has named former Education Minister Lee Ju-ho, who served a decade ago in the Lee Myung-bak administration, to come back to his old job.

The presidential office said on Thursday that Lee "is the right person to lead the Yoon administration's education reforms... based on his rich experience both in education and politics."

Lee is a seasoned lawmaker and economist, serving as education minister from 2010 to 2013.

The post has been vacant for 50 days since his predecessor, Park Soon-ae, stepped down when her leftfield proposal to lower the school age to five sparked an outcry.
