Korea rose by four notches to eighth place in the latest World Digital Competitive Ranking.
Denmark topped the list of 63 countries, up three spots from last year. Next came the U.S., Sweden, Singapore and Switzerland. Hong Kong came ninth, China 17th and Japan 29th.
The latest ranking was released by the World Competitiveness Center of the Institute for Management Development in Switzerland on Wednesday.
The WCC studies 63 global economies "in terms of their ability to adopt and explore new digital technologies. This year 54 criteria were measured and arranged into three major groups: future readiness, knowledge and technology."
Korea scored high in research and development, but poorly in the number of skilled foreign workers and female researchers.
