Subway and bus hours in Seoul will be extended over Chuseok, the biggest holiday of the year, and COVID testing will continue, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on Sunday.
"We're going to focus on keeping Chuseok safe and healthy by balancing the fight against the pandemic with normal life since this is the first Chuseok holiday since lockdown was lifted in April," the city government said.
The last subway train will be extended from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Sept. 10, Chuseok Day, and Sept. 11. with more trains put into service. The last buses will run until 2 a.m.
More express and inter-city buses departing from Seoul will also be put in operation. An average of 4,217 buses are expected to carry 86,996 passengers a day from Thursday until Sept. 12, about 31,000 more passengers a day than usual.
People can continue to get tested for coronavirus during the holiday and receive treatment if necessary. Each district office will operate at least one testing facility.
