Bangtan Boys, Blackpink, Seventeen Win at MTV Video Music Awards

Boy band Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, and girl group Blackpink were among the winners at this year's MTV Video Music Awards in New Jersey on Sunday.

BTS took home the award for Group of the Year, beating out such high-profile competitors as Blackpink, Måneskin and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others. The boys won the honor for the fourth consecutive year, but claimed no other awards this time.

Blackpink won Best Metaverse Performance for their virtual concert featured in the mobile game Battlegrounds. 

The group also performed their newest single "Pink Venom" live at the event.

Separately, Blackpink member Lisa picked up the Best K-Pop award for her debut solo single "Lalisa."

Boyband Seventeen also won their first gong at the awards -- Push Performance of the Year for the song "Rock with You."
