Hyundai and affiliate Kia exported more than 200,000 eco-friendly vehicles in the first half of this year.
According to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association, the automakers shipped a combined 224,672 electric vehicles and hybrids -- 116,770 for Hyundai and 107,902 for Kia -- which was a 30.6 percent increase on-year from 171,468.
The increase was led by Hyundai's popular sedan Ioniq 5 (29,109 units), followed by Kia's EV6 (28,814 units).
The association projected the two Korean automakers' annual exports would surpass 400,000 for the first time this year.
