U.S. House Leader Arrives in Seoul After Visit to Taiwan

    U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi arrived in Seoul on Wednesday night after winding up a visit to Taiwan.
    She meets with National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-pyo on Thursday morning before they give a joint press conference and have lunch.
    Pelosi is on a mission to rally an alliance against China, whose human rights violations in Xinjiang and Hong Kong and militarization of the South China Sea she has condemned.
    Her arrival in Seoul comes right after a visit to Taiwan that caused fury in Beijing.
    President Yoon Suk-yeol is expected to take a break from his summer holiday for a telephone call with her in the afternoon.
    Pelosi has already met or is expected to meet all leaders of the countries she is visiting. She met Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday, Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Tuesday, and Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen on Wednesday.
    On the last leg of her trip, she will have breakfast with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on Friday.

    After lunch Pelosi is scheduled to meet young Koreans and visit the U.S.' Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province to meet U.S. troops before leaving for Tokyo in the evening.
