Eco-Friendly Vehicles Account for over 30% of Korea's Car Exports

    Korea's outbound shipments of eco-friendly cars have exceeded 30 percent of total car exports for the first time ever.
    The Korea International Trade Association said on Monday that outbound shipments of automobiles came to US$20.45 billion in January-May, with eco-friendly cars accounting for 30.3 percent, at around $6.19 billion. That's an increase of 8.7 percentage points on-year from 21.6 percent.
    Hyundai's Ioniq 5 was the most popular electric vehicle with 25,381 units exported, followed by Kia's EV6 (25,052).
    Among plug-in hybrid cars, Renault Korea's XM3 was the most exported model with 26,597 units, followed by Hyundai's Kona (14,422) and Kia's Niro (13,078).
