Blackpink to Release New Album Next Month

Girl group Blackpink will release their first album in about two years next month.

Their management agency, YG Entertainment, said Wednesday, "Blackpink are currently in the final stages of recording a new album. They will soon film music videos for the new album and roll it out in August."

The girls will also embark on a world tour that will last until the end of this year, the agency added.

Blackpink released their first full-length album, "The Album," in October 2020. It has sold 1.4 million copies, making them the first K-pop girl group to sell more than 1 million copies of an album.

The previous album included the thunderous lead song "How You Like That" and "Ice Cream," a collaboration with American superstar Selena Gomez.

Last year, members Rosé and Lisa released their own solo albums, which took global music charts by storm and demonstrated their global fandom.

Blackpink's YouTube channel has more than 75 million subscribers, the most for any musical act in the world.
