Volleyball star Kim Yeon-koung signed a W700-million, one-year contract with the Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old will earn W450 million in salary and up to W250 million in incentives for the 2022-23 season (US$1=W1,294).
Heungkuk Life actively wooed Kim to return to the club, where she made her professional debut in 2005.
She left the club in 2009 to play overseas, joining JT Marvelous in Japan until 2011, Fenerbahçe in Turkey from 2011 to 2017, Shanghai Guohua Life in China from 2017 to 2018 and another Turkish club, Eczacıbaşı VitrA, from 2018 to 2020.
She then returned to Heungkuk Life and played for one season. Last season, she joined Shanghai Bright Ubest, formerly Shanghai Guohua Life, for whom she played in the 2017-18 season.
"I'm happy to meet Korean fans at the [Pink Spiders'] new home stadium in Incheon. I'm excited to play in front of them now that the COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted. We'll try to perform at our best," Kim said.
But Kim will no longer play for Korea as she retired from the national team last year, ending her 17-year international career.
